Youth Activities

TOFSS(Too Old For Sunday School)

Tofss is designed for young people who have grown out of Sunday school, but want to continue with their spiritual development on Sunday mornings, while the main Church service takes place. Tofss caters for 7-11 year olds, and the group size can be anything from 15 to 5. During their meetings, again taken by some fantastic leaders, the young people, undertake anything from cooking to Bible study, and often perform dramatised readings for the congregation.

Sunday School

Sunday School is the place to go if you think you are too young to enjoy the main service. Any one between the ages of 3 and 6 are welcome, and activities are suitably adapted for that age group. The young Christians enjoy a variety of different activities which help them develop their knowledge of the Christian faith.

Noah's Ark

This is a pre Sunday school group, who meet every other Monday during term time. It is “ a short informal service and activity on a Christian theme, designed for young children babies, parents and carers together.” It provides a great opportunity for parents to introduce their children to a form of Christian worship from an early age. Meeting dates

Young People's Confirmation Classes

Only take place for about six months before the confirmation service. It is designed and adapted with careful consideration of the candidates who are preparing for their Confirmation, and the course helps them pave the way for their future Christian life.

All of the young people’s groups run by a team of dedicated individuals, without whom none of this would be possible.

Parish Workshops

We hold occasional ‘Workshops’ around the parish – usually 3 or 4 a year. They are a mixture of worship, crafts & design, refreshments and fun, and often end with some sort of ‘finale’ to bring everything together!

We arrange these events to help the whole church (all ages) celebrate some of the major festivals and seasons. In 2007, for instance, we have held Workshops for Palm Sunday, Good Friday, Advent and Christmas. In 2006, we celebrated St. Peter and Harvest in the same way.

Although the adults tend to think of Workshops as ‘for the children’, they actually enjoy themselves just as much!

Here are some pictures from the Good Friday Workshop, at St. Peter’s Hall, in 2007. We were exploring the meaning of the cross, and making different styles of cross from around the world….
